Topical Pain Creams
At Comprehensive Rheumatology Center, we are passionate about helping people overcome pain. Unfortunately, some patients may not tolerate strong oral medications for a variety of reasons, so topical pain relievers seemed like a great alternative. Creams containing Voltaren in low doses seem to be helpful and are available commercially, but are no covered by all insurances. Also, certain compounding pharmacies made creams with higher concentrations of Voltaren, but the cost was too high. Knowing this, Dr. Firooz began researching ways to treat pain locally to minimize side effects at an affordable price.
After reading through the research, she found multiple studies that found benefits of essential oils combined with Voltaren cream, and hence Vollido Magic Cream was born. The cream, named by one of the first patients who tried it, provides a safe, effective, and aromatic treatment for localized musculoskeletal pain. This is done by combining the analgesic effect of Voltaren and Lidocaine with the therapeutic effect of an essential oil like Eucalyptus.
- 1) Voltaren: A non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medication similar to Advil, with little to no effect on the entire body compared to the oral medications.
- 2) Lidocaine: A numbing medication similar to what dentists use. It prevents pain by blocking the signal at the nerve endings in the skin.
- 3) Eucalyptus: An essential oil with a relaxing effect on the mind and relieves pain in the body, as it has anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties.
At Comprehensive Rheumatology Center, we offer this exclusive topical cream in different sizes and as a great alternative to using oral medications in certain circumstances.
